Tony is a specialist defence lawyer with more than 30 years of litigation experience.
After qualifying in 1981, Tony spent 2 years of practice in Napier. He then moved back to his home city of Tauranga where he practiced in all fields of litigation. In 1995, Tony moved to the independent bar and since then has specialised in criminal defence work.
Tony has appeared since 1982 in many significant and complex jury trial cases in both the High Court and the District Court. These case have included allegations of murder, serious violence, sexual offending, methamphetamine and other drug offending.
Tony also has considerable experience in defending traffic and regulatory offences including fisheries, tax, benefit fraud and a range of other departmental prosecution matters.
Over the last 25 years Tony has had regular involvement in Law Society Committee work and in 2013 assisted as presenter for the Law Society in a nationwide seminar series on the Criminal Procedure Act. This Act has created fundamental changes in Court procedures and in the conduct of criminal cases.
